Originally started as a means of displaying energy data for the USGS, GEODE has
recently been adopted as the data delivery system of the Geologic Discipline and
continues to provide unbiased scientific and energy related data to the public via
a fully functional, web accessed GIS map server.
Geode continues to display all types of geologic data including data sets from each of the Geologic Discipline's programs including
Coastal and Marine Geology, Earth Surface Dynamics, Earthquake Hazards, Integrated Natural
Resource Sciences, Mineral Resources, National Cooperative Geologic Mapping, Volcano Hazards.
Technical advancements also now allow GEODE to function as a portal to other USGS data servers
such as the National Atlas and Terra-server. In addition GEODE continues to expand on a project
by project basis to meet the needs of the data providers combining data sets from both internal
and external sources that cover a national and international scope.
Geode is constantly seeking
new data sets to be added while still providing a powerfull tool for conducting sophisticated analysis
on the user desktop without requiring complex GIS software or GIS expertise.
